David Seidenwurm, MD

David Seidenwurm is a neuroradiologist and diagnostic radiologist with Sutter Medical Group in Sacramento, CA.  Currently, he is Sutter Physicians Alliance Chief Medical Officer, Sutter Medical Foundation Quality and Safety medical director and a Sutter Care at Home board member.

Dr. Seidenwurm was raised in New York City. He majored in Philosophy at Stanford and concentrated in Neuroscience at Harvard Medical School. After Internship at Kaiser San Francisco and Diagnostic Radiology Residency at Stanford, he was a Fellow in Neuroradiology at NYU. Subsequently, he was acting Director of Neuro MRI at NYU and Assistant Professor of Radiology at UCSF. Previously, he was Chairman of the Diagnostic Division at RAS, chief of Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation Oncology at Sutter Medical Center Sacramento and president of California Managed Imaging. He has been Adjunct Associate Professor of Radiology at Stanford, Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology at UCSF and Bracco Visiting Professor at Stanford.

He has authored numerous peer reviewed scientific papers, consensus statements and editorial commentaries. He has been Associate Editor of Radiology and Editorial Board member of Diagnostic Imaging. His writing has appeared in publications ranging from NEJM and JAMA to The New Yorker and The New York Times

Dr. Seidenwurm holds numerous positions related to quality measurement and consensus development related to value based payment programs. He has chaired or co-chaired advisory and working panels regarding clinical quality and/or cost of care performance measures and practice guidelines. He is past chair of the American College of Radiology Metrics Committee and chair of the American Society of Neuroradiology Quality Safety and Value committee. He has served the ASNR as Secretary and is a current member of the Advisory Council. Recently, he was awarded his second Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation Diagnostic Excellence grant in conjunction with the Acumen.
