Elaine Lyon, PhD FACMG
Dr. Lyon serves as CGI’s Vice President of Clinical Affairs. Dr. Lyon is an ABMGG Board Certified Medical Director. She has most recently served as the director of the Clinical Services Laboratory at HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology. Dr. Lyon was previously a professor of pathology at the University of Utah School of Medicine and a Director at ARUP. She professionally trained at the University of Alabama and the University of Utah. Dr. Lyon’s expertise include quality assurance and review of technical assays.
Dr. Lyon focuses her interest in combining sequence variants with symptoms, family history, and other evidences to determine clinical significance. She co-authored the 2015 ACMG/AMP/CAP Standards and Guidelines for the Interpretation of Sequence Variants currently used across the world. In 2014, she was the president of the international Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP), and has since served on the boards and committees in the AMP and ACMG organizations.
