Karl Voelkerding, MD

Dr. Voelkerding is Board Certified in Clinical Pathology and Molecular Genetic Pathology. His thirty year career has included work in translational and diagnostic molecular pathology in academic medicine (ARUP) as well as consulting experience in the biotechnology industry. Dr. Voelkerding is skilled in the development and implementation of molecular diagnostics, including next generation sequencing (NGS) based diagnostics. He is a co-author on multiple publications pertaining to guidelines and recommendations for best practices in diagnostic genomics. Dr. Voelkerding is the senior author of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) laboratory accreditation requirements for NGS diagnostics. He received the CAP Distinguished Service Award, and currently sits as the Chair of the CAP Genomic Medicine Committee and has served as a President of the Association for Molecular Pathology (2001). Dr. Voelkerding received his MD from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
