Gabriela Portugal, MDl

Gabriela Portugal, MD, is the Director of Cancer Programs at Alliance Community Services, a non-profit organization dedicated to help the Hispanic community in the Salt Lake City Area. She coordinates “Triunfadoras”, a Latina Women Cancer Survivor Group serving participants from all across Utah, and her role is to conduct the monthly meetings, as well as coordinating educational resources through guest speakers, grants and navigation services. The grants recently implemented include a psychoeducational program for mental health, breast cancer genomics and cancer financial toxicity. 

She is serving for the Mexican and Latino Physician Advisory Council at the Mexican Consulate in Salt Lake City, as well as the board of Directors for Alliance Community Services, Healthy Environment Alliance of Utah (HEAL), and at the Intermountain HealthCare Community Advisory Board. 

She was born and raised in Mexico City, where she obtained her MD degree and worked as a Clinical Team Leader for Clinical Research at a Contract Research Organization, before and after moving to the USA. She lived in Florida for 10 years and has been in Utah for 6 years. In both states she has volunteered time for the Hispanic Community in different organizations.
